Maytag Washer Error Codes

Press the Control Lock button or refer to your owner’s manual to find out which button (on older models) triggers the control lock. On some models, you must press and hold the button.

Ignore this message if you are using the detergent for a single load only. Make sure that the dispenser drawer is fully closed and the dispenser cartridge is properly seated.

The washing machine may take 20 to 30 minutes to cease spinning and drain the water, during which time this error code will be displayed. Press the Power button once and then the Stop or Cancel button twice to clear the code. If the code is still displayed, pull the plug out of the socket or turn off the electricity for one minute.

Restart the Clean Washer cycle after removing it from the drum.

Make sure that you are using HE or High Efficiency detergent. Too much foam may form if you have used liquid chlorine bleach of the “easy pour” or “no splash” type. This type of liquid chlorine bleach contains a thickening agent that can cause excessive foaming in the washing machine. If this happens, run the washing machine with regular liquid bleach. Make sure that the drain hose is not kinked or blocked.

Make sure that the door is fully closed and nothing obstructs it. To reset the code, press the “Pause” or “Cancel” button 3 times and the “Power” button once.

Check if there is no excessive load in the washing machine. To reset the code, press the “Pause” or “Cancel” button 3 times and the “On” button once.

Check if: The cold and hot water taps or valves are fully open and the house water supply is turned on. The water supply hoses have no kinks. The water pipe that is connected to the washing machine does not have any anti-flood hoses or controls. To reset the code, press the “Pause” or “Cancel” button three times and the “Power” button once.

This error only appears on some models. Make sure that detergent is not clogged in the detergent compartment or detergent cartridge.

Make sure the drain pipe is not kinked or blocked. Use a U-shaped drain hose. The minimum and maximum height of the riser (drain pipe) is limited to 39″ (99 cm) and 96″ (244 cm), respectively. In addition, too much foam may impede emptying. Make sure that the detergent you use is HE.

This may occasionally be an installation issue. Check the water hose.

Once the code has been cleared, press START/PAUSE to restart the washer.

At the end of the wash cycle, a code will appear indicating that the hot water hose is connected to the cold water inlet and the cold water hose to the hot water inlet. After shutting off the water supply, swap the hoses. To make sure the hoses are in the correct place, run another cycle.

There is a possibility that something in the load is preventing the lid from closing. Check that there are no objects under the lid. Also, check for detergent build-up near the lid-locking mechanism.

Something is preventing the lid from opening. Remove everything from the top of the washing machine, including the laundry basket.

There may be a problem with the water supply to the washing machine. Check the water supply system: Turn on the water and make sure the hot and cold water taps are open before checking the home’s water supply. To ensure proper filling, make sure both taps are fully open. NOTE: The washing machine must be supplied with both hot and cold water.

Close the lid. If the lid is left open for more than 10 minutes, the cycle will restart, and the water from the washing machine will be drained. Restart the cycle if the water has been drained from the machine. The detergent should already have been absorbed into the clothes; do not add any more.

First try the following steps: If the washing machine stops and the dial is flashing, restart the wash, close the lid and press the START/PAUSE button. In addition, the washing machine may vibrate during spin or stop altogether, with all indicators flashing. Place items evenly around the washing plate in loose piles. Adding wet items or excess water to the basket may affect the balance of the washing machine. Do not wash individual items. Using a few extra items, such as towels, can balance individual items, such as a rug or denim jacket. Redistribute the load if the dial is flashing, close the lid and press START/PAUSE. To wash large items that do not absorb moisture, such as duvets or jackets with a polymer filling, use the deep cycle for large items/sheets. Other items should not be washed in the large items/sheets cycle.

In case of overload detection, all water and detergent in the machine will be drained. Add HE detergent after taking out some items. Press START/PAUSE and the lid will close.

To restart the washing cycle, press and hold the START button. To clear the display, press the POWER button.

The main component of the washing machine that pushes water out is the drain water pump. The washing machine will not drain water if it is damaged or has failed for other reasons. Before ordering a new drain pump, carefully inspect the drain pump to make sure that no tiny object, such as clothes or something similar, is stuck in it, as this can lead to a lack of drainage or even a spin problem. You can check the drain pump with a multimeter to see if it needs to be removed and replaced if it is not clogged. Request Service
